22 East Center Street
22 East Center, once home to the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone, maintains its historic tradition as a regenerative model of transformational space. Guided by the mission of Architecture for Lives, this signature piece of real estate underwent a regeneration into a dynamic fusion of history, art, and opportunity.
As the first tenant at 22 East, the telephone system was established by pioneers in the transmission of information, who took risks to find solutions. What started as a small local concern in Utah (only a few years after the telephone was invented) developed to the point where it gave promise of becoming a successful commercial utility. Using the early phone system as a model for enterprise and communication, 22 East Center has become a case study for rehabilitating the old and neglected through initiative and creativity. When the building was purchased in 2014, it had been sitting vacant for over 15 years. Andrea and her financial partner, Paul, teamed up to bring new life to this outdated structure. The building was opened in October 2018 and has numerous success stories supporting entrepreneurship and small business.
Now a mixed-use architectural space, it is home to Kulor, an upscale hair salon, and Meraki Floral, a flower shop and boutique. The second level and basement are home to Flats Luxury Suites, luxury lifestyle rentals featuring personalized services and dynamic design, an inviting space to work, relax, and feel at home.
